Federal Ferry Service – Marine Atlantic

Vessels and terminals have been designed for maximum accessibility, with extensive training given to staff to accommodate the needs of passengers with disabilities. Marine Atlantic ferry service follows federal guidelines & standards in ferry accessibility (Canadian Transport Agency) and has adapted cabins available for reservation and reduced rates available for attendants. It is advised to book accessible cabins as early as possible, and to contact Marine Atlantic at least 48 hours in advance if you will need assistance or accommodation from staff. Validation of disability required upon check in at terminal. As well, passengers travelling without vehicles can travel between the vessel and the terminal on Marine Atlantic’s shuttle bus service. Buses are fully accessible, including rear access wheelchair lifts that can accommodate up to 800 pounds on a platform measuring 33 by 51 inches.
