Volunteer With Us

We’d love to work with you

Whether you’re interested in volunteering with us directly or you would like our help in finding a volunteer position within the community, we look forward to hearing from you.

Empower greatly values its volunteers. No matter what area you are working in, volunteers bring valuable experience and skills. Our volunteers contribute to the overall atmosphere and culture of the Centre, and for that we are very grateful.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, we will accommodate you as best we can.  Whether you are a student, a retiree, or a person with a disability, we will do our best to find a place for you. We will do what we can to ensure that you have a chance to use the skills you currently have or work toward building new ones.

If at any time you feel that volunteering with the Centre does not meet your needs, if we cannot offer you the skill building you are looking for, or you feel you need a new challenge, we will do our best to find you an opportunity to volunteer outside Empower..

Volunteer in Your Community

Ranging from long-term commitments to a one-time event offering a wide range of experience and opportunity for personal growth, there are numerous volunteer opportunities available in our community.

If you are interested in volunteering, the Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to identify your goals, find an opportunity that is a good fit for you, and support you in communicating your needs as a volunteer. We will help you work past any fears, reservations, or barriers you may face in your volunteer experience. Breaking down these barriers will ensure that you can showcase the skills you have, learn new skills, and build relationships in the community with confidence.  For more information contact:

20% of Canadians have a psychological disability.

This highlights the fact that not all disabilities are visible. As well, a large number of people can go through their daily lives without those around them noticing they have a disability.
